Postdoctoral Position-Immunoparasitology
A postdoctoral position is available to investigate mucosal immunity during Toxoplasma gondii infection in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Denkers at the University of New Mexico. The focus of the NIH-funded project is to investigate mechanisms of resistance in innate and adaptive responses to protozoan infection using state-of-the-art mouse models of infection (https://www.ericdenkers.net). The successful applicant will be expected to design and conduct experiments, and report data at conferences and in publications. Opportunities to participate in training and supervision of undergraduate and graduate student researchers exist. The laboratory is part of the Center for Evolutionary and Theoretical Immunology, an NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence within the Department of Biology at the University of New Mexico. Facilities within the Center include a Cell Biology Core equipped with state-of-the-art microscopy and flow cytometry instrumentation and a Molecular Biology Core providing high throughput genetic sequencing services. The medical school campus is located 0.5 mile from the department providing further opportunities for research and collaboration.
The University of New Mexico is located in Albuquerque, a city with a uniquely rich cultural heritage situated in a spectacular Southwest location.
The salary for this position is in line with current NIH recommendations. Interested individuals should submit a statement of interest, CV, and names/contact information of three references to Dr. E. Denkers ([email protected]).
